The Black femme body is evidence of the contradictory nature of dehumanization vis-à-vis misogynoir. Dehumanization can take the forms of Deification, alongside the Black femme body being depicted as monstrous. Black femmes can be goddesses, ethereal, and the purveyors of the fantastical. On the opposite end of the spectrum, they have been subjected to being depicted as bestial and often times hyper-sexualized. The Black femme body becomes both sacred and profane as a byproduct of institutionalized supremacist norms. Through ecclesiastical objects, I choose to address the trope of Black femme martyrdom.
